Summer Solstice - the longest night of the year is June 20th. One of our beloved ancestors, Marie Summerwood thought about the Sabbats and Cross Quarter days not only as Holydays but as the light that spirals around the wheel of the year. Marie said that we are either moving towards the light, at the peak of the light, moving towards the dark, or at the peak of the dark.
Summer Solstice is the peak of the light. For us, this peak of light illuminates all, even the things we might not want to see. On this day, the light illuminates the unsettled planet. Armed conflict, genocide, the erosion of women’s rights and climate change are in sharp focus. So too are the pieces of our lives that we would rather not see in this bright light.
If only.
When we acknowledge the spiral as the center point of life, we know that issues and “stuff” will recur until they are resolved. In this time, welcome the fire that transforms what is unnecessary. Transformation brings us to new places, growth, clarity and more gratitude for the richness of our lives. Embrace the light!

Under the midsummer moon, amidst the crackling flames, we gather as sisters, guardians of the sacred fire of feminism. In this circle of solidarity, we honor the strength and resilience of the feminine spirit, kindling the flames of empowerment and liberation. As the fire dances before us, let us embrace the power of community, standing united in our commitment to equality, justice, and transformation.
On this solstice night, let the fire ignite within us a fervent desire for change, a passion for progress, and a dedication to lifting each other higher. Together, may we stoke the embers of transformation, forging a world where all voices are heard, all dreams are realized, and all souls are free to shine as brightly as the midsummer sun.
So mote it be.
